Check and clean your Air Filter regularly!
Clogged Air Filters are costly!
A clogged air filter forces the air conditioner to work harder to keep the house heated or cooled. This will lead to more frequent system repairs and, ultimately, shorten the lifespan of the unit.
If you don’t change your air filter, it will begin to fail. It will no longer be able to filter the air properly, letting dust and contaminants get into the heating/cooling unit. Dust jams the moving parts of the heating/cooling units, such as fan motors and valves. Airflow is restricted which creates a strain on the system. If the system is starving for air the unit will have to run twice as long to heat or cool the same area.
How often do you change an Air Filter?
Now lets talk about how often you should change your Air Filter. In a home occupied nearly all year round, we recommend changing your home air filter every 60-90 days depending on a number of factors including pets, allergies, etc. The location of your air filter also plays a big role. if it is located closer to the floor it will pick up a lot more of the dirt and debris like dog hair and carpet fibers. Lessen the load by simply changing the air filter regularly.
